In the late 1800′s, postals (postcards) were an easy and inexpensive form of communication. Postals gradually also developed into “Greetings” and “Best Wishes” missives. By the turn of the 20th century, Christmas and New Year postals were often sent to relatives and friends. The cards were typically color prints that were also embossed like the one pictured which is postmarked 1906. They were frequently embellished with feathers, glitter, and fabrics. A popular activity was to assemble postals into an album much like photographs.
